Yosub Kim : Violin
Yosub Kim, a native of, South Korea, is recognized as rising musician in classical music field of New York. He began studying violin at age six and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Mannes College of Music, as Merit Award fellow.
He has won numerous competitions including 1st prize in East coast International competition (2014, New York) and 3rd prize in In-cheon National Competition (2000, Korea) and 2nd prize in West Auckland competition (2003, New Zealand). As a chamber musician, he was the winner of the chamber music competition of the music Academy at the Auckland University (2004, New Zealand). In New York, he is a member of “Sonata da Chiesa” chamber ensemble playing New York and New Jersey. As an orchestral and solo musician, Mr. Kim has performed at New York’s Merkin Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, LeFrak Concert Hall and Weill Hall in Queens College. He participated in International Music Festival in Gisborn, New Zealand and Meadowmount Music Festival in New York..He currently serves as the associate concertmaster of the Queensboro Symphony Orchestra, and will be performing Sibelius violin concert with the orchestra in November, 2015. He is also devoted music educator. He is a string instructor of New York Laureate Youth Orchestra and he himself is the music director of Hyoshin Youth orchestra. And he serves as a violin faculty for Seoul music school and Eastern school of music and art.
